Robin Thompson is a Charlotte, NC based photographer, specializing in commercial, advertising, corporate, lifestyle and location work. He grew up in Devon, in the West of England.  After graduating from college, he began in sales, working in London.  After moving to Florida in 1984, Robin started his new career shooting motor sports.  Robin embarked on expanding his own photograpy business. Now centrally based in Charlotte, he has a stock photography web site, where advertising agencies and clients may purchase a vast range of images, covering many different subjects. Along with his portfolio and motor sport images web sites, new works are constantly being added. Among the influences that have helped forge Robin’s style of photography, were hours spent looking at LIFE magazine as a young boy,  growing up in the UK during the turbulent 60’s.  The brilliant hard edged images shot by such legends as Larry Burrows, whose heroics made a life long impression.  A major influence in his choice of ultimate career. Robin’s experiences with Audi, as team photographer, for their North American race campaign, during the final two years they ran a full season schedule here, were probably some of the most exciting, difficult and challenging in his career.  This included photography in all weathers, rain and shine, sometimes round the clock in 24 and 12 hour events, travel far and wide, over coming all kinds of obstacles,  shooting a wide variety of subjects. Drivers, corporate personell, locations, team shots, cars on and off track, dealer events. This was truly a career enhancing experience.Now, expanding out of pure racing into a wider commercial market has opened up many new opportunities,  and Robin is using his ability to adapt to ever changing assignments that he is asked to shoot. Images of Architecture, Lifestyle, nature and wild life, automotive, landscape, domestic animals, wild animals, the sky, the beach, sunsets.
